GTA 5 - the first minute
Version 1 only, with the notes applied. Watch it with the sound off first - if the story
comes through that way, the edit is doing its job.
Rockstar cover art · steady backdrop · the objects move, not the camera
What changed since the three-way test
- The background no longer moves at all. Every shot used to restart the same push in, so across a cut
it snapped back to normal and started again - the same gesture on a loop. It is locked now.
- The movement moved to the foreground. Each piece placed over the backdrop gets one slow gesture -
a push in, a pull back, a drift left or right, or a slight sway - and the gesture cycles shot to shot so no
two in a row do the same thing.
- The "one thing" frame was redrawn. The floating forearm is gone; it is a single cartridge standing
alone now.
- Versions 2 and 3 are dropped.
How it is built
- 26 beats, storyboarded by hand from the story - each one names what the frame has to show, not which noun
was spoken.
- 30 illustrations drawn in the GTA cover-art style for this video: the snowbound bank, the sniper on the
roof, two down in the snow, the handshake in the storm, the badge, the grave, the mansion.
- The GTA 6 key art and the character portraits are the real official Rockstar assets, not drawings.
Say the word and I build the rest of the video in this grammar.
